This accomplishment represents our ability to eliminate food safety hazards in any food safety environment, and implement systems in our operations that provide safe garments for employees working in food processing and manufacturing.
ISO 22000:2018 requires organizations to:

- Demonstrate compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory food safety requirements.
- Evaluate and assess customer requirements and demonstrate conformity with those mutually agreed on customer requirements relating to food safety, in order to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Effectively communicate food safety issues to their suppliers, customers, and relevant interested parties in the food chain.
- Ensure that the organization conforms to its stated food safety policy
- Demonstrate conformity to relevant interested parties.
- Maintain registration of its food safety management system by passing annual audits from an external organization.
Because of this certification, Northern Uniform provides third-party audits as part of our uniform rental program. This is the best way to ensure your business’s safety for employees, customers and vendors alike.
The Benefits of Northern’s P.A.S.S. | Food Program
Protective Apparel Safety System
Northern Uniform offers a unique program designed to streamline costs and provide full documentation for the development and maintenance of food safety workwear.
Our P.A.S.S. | Food program is a verified and traceable, fully documented, and third-party audited process. Our ISO 22000:2018 registration covers services provided under this program, which is a significant enhancement to a standard uniform service.
Northern's P.A.S.S. | Food Program
Every P.A.S.S. | Food garment that passes through our plant is distinguished by a yellow-backed barcode. This identifies each garment as a P.A.S.S. program piece, which allows us to recognize them at a glimpse and handle the garment according to our ISO 22000 procedures. This, coupled with our RFID systems, enables tracking and managing of inventory like no one else can offer.
We verify that our P.A.S.S. | Food garments are allergen free by conducting random protein swabs of every food safety delivery.
Our Unmatched Laundering Program
Our wash and repair program eliminates contaminants and ensures sanitary, safe uniforms for your team. Here’s a step-by-step of our laundering process:
1. Pick-Up
Equipped with the right PPE, your trained Service Specialist picks up soiled garments, and carts them away for laundering at Northern’s facility—avoiding any opportunity for cross-contamination.
2. Washed
Each item is washed at 160 degrees Fahrenheit in our open-pocket washers; machines specially designed to avoid cross contamination that can occur with spinning washers.
2. Sanitized
Proper sanitization is guaranteed by automated alarm monitoring on formula steps and computerized chemical injections, as well as physical temperature and pH verification at regular intervals.
4. Packaged
Garments are swabbed, then packaged and sealed in plastic. Garment packages are then placed into sanitized carts and staged in for transport.
5. Distributed
Carts are loaded in clean trucks and kept separate from the dirty garments. Your garments will arrive clean, sanitized, and ready to go!
6. Thoroughly Documented
The entire process, from start to finish, follows our ISO procedures for dependable, documented consistency.
